As an eBay bookseller, I have found out that old, out-of-print Mercer Mayer monster titles are hot. This book and "Professor Wormbog" easily sell on eBay for about $50. (Note: Mayer's current "Little Critter" series is not valuable.)
As far as other horror/mystery themed books that sell quickly and for good prices are the "Scary Stories" series by Alvin Schwartz and ANYof the books from the "Alfred Hitchcock and The Three Investigators" series.
The Ruth Chew witch and magic books are also very popular
even though they are mostly cheap looking, old Scholastic paperback books.
